Change log (since Endpoint Protection 7.20):

1. Added support for multiple Endpoint Managers in the same realm (multilevel architecture). This will reduce the load on the top level Endpoint Manager during distribution of product and definition file updates to all its clients, especially valuable for larger networks.

2. Totally new Endpoint Manager GUI with many improvements and changes in regards to user experience:
- Much quicker GUI response
- Clients page restructured
- Restrictions on moving clients implemented, e.g. cannot move a client to endpoint manager group.
- New action icons at the top of the "clients" view e.g. "Promote/Demote" and "Restart Client"
- Added filters (OS type, status, machine type etc) under "clients" view page for quick visual filtering of clients
- "Maintenance" and "Settings" configuration pages have been merged together to "Settings"
- Updated help and error texts many places throughout the product

3. New default group and policy names (clients in the Endpoint Manager group will automatically be moved to the "lost and found" group during the upgrade).

4. Improved topology filtering functionality

Known limitations and issues:
====================================
* Known issues:
- Linux clients are not yet supported (will be fixed very soon!)
- Possible minor issues in the GUI when using Internet Explorer (supported versions 7, 8 and 9)
- Slow response in realms with large amount of clients (1000+)
- There are known issues with promoting a managed client to be a second level mid-level manager (under another mid-level manager).
- It is currently not possible to demote a second level mid-level manager
- When importing/migrating a NVC5 configuration file you might experience that “njeeves” crash (mutex timeout).
- Administrators guide is not yet up to date (missing the latest screenshots some updated text)
- The new “Reports” page is still under development and might not be included in the release version of NPRO 9.0

* By design:
- Active discovery has been removed
- Manually adding new clients is no longer possible
- Mid-level Endpoint Managers have limited functionality compared to the top-level Endpoint Manager.
- All newly installed Endpoint Protection clients will report to the top-level Endpoint Manager. They can be assigned to mid-level managers by using topology filtering or manually moving the clients to other groups.
- All clients have to be able to reach top-level NEM (in the network) during installation
- Old Endpoint Manager backups (prior to version 9) cannot be restored in multilevel Endpoint Manager 9.
- If a mid-level manager fails/crashes then all it’s managed clients will report to and fetch updates from the top-level manager after a certain period of time.

NEM:
- Fixed support for IE 7 (and IE8 “compatibility mode”)
- Modified drag n drop so that it acts a bit more like we would expect. Active on drop spots and faint when not on drop spot
- Close file browser dialogs when navigating away from configuration page
- Improved positioning on “help” popups
- Missing strings for MSX/NIP policy (block attachments) have been added
- Improvements in promotion/demotion and updates of second-level mid-level managers

NPRO Client:
- Improved GUI for NIP attachment block list
- Antivirus exclude lists have been improved to handle long paths better and allow ‘&’ in path/filenames
- Make sure “Automatic scanner” tab is always shown first when configuring AV.
- Quick scan now works when policy is locked
- Manual scanner fixed to handle special PUA detections and will no longer close when a scan is stopped


Post Updates to be released 7.July - Changelog
The following updates will be released for NPRO 9 beta later today (Thursdag 7. July).

NEM:
- Fixed sporadic Njeeves.exe crashes
- Improved validation of fields on client properties
- Fixed issue with “file browse” under Restore/backup for IE/Chrome
- Properly display clients with long names in “Clients” view
- Fixed issue with updating multiple clients at once in “Clients” view
- Button for Push install to single clients now works
- Layout improvements to Topology filters and disallow duplicate entries
- Display error when trying to access a group that has been deleted by another user
- Improved exclude list for MailScan for Exchange
- Simplified group creation
- Prevent scheduled tasks to run on clients after every update
- Fixed exclude lists for Automatic and Manual scanner in policy editor

NPRO Client:
- Added mouseover details to files on exclude list
- MailScan for Exchange configuration now shows up on Win 2003 Enterprise
- Do not display captcha on uninstallation
- No longer necessary with “Program Manager” configuration rights to install/uninstall components on clients with “install/uninstall” rights
- Disallow uninstallation of Antivirus & Antispyware if Mailscan for Exchange is installed on client
