Global Threat Trends – June 2007Win32/TrojanDownloader.Ani.Gen was the top threat for the third consecutive month, according to ESET ThreatSense.Net® system. Out of the top 10 ranking threats, the Ani.gen trojan constituted more than 3,95% of all threats.
Detected as Win32/TrojanDownloader.Ani.Gen, this family of threats is designed to exploit vulnerability in Windows when the operating system handles animated cursor files.
Second in the ranking for June, we find Win32/BHO.G which reached 2,41% of detections during last month. This threat installs in the system as a Browser Helper Object of Internet Explorer, being able to interact with everything the user is doing over the Internet with the browser.
In third place we find Win32/Rjump.A, which is a backdoor worm that´s able to make copies of itself in external devices, like pen drives, memories of digital cameras, etc. Win32/Spy.VB.StatJ runs on a variety of browser, including Internet Explorer and Firefox. The fifth place on the ranking for June was held by INF/Autorun. This label is used to describe a variety of malware that use the file autorun.inf. The file autorun.inf contains information on programs to run automatically when a media is inserted in a computer.
