McAfee Agent 4.6
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.x


Problem

When the McAfee Agent policy is configured to hide the Agent icon and the VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) icon is set to be displayed, the VSE icon sporadically disappears from the system tray.

This issue has only been reported with McAfee Agent 4.6.


System Change

Deployed McAfee Agent 4.6.


Cause

Shstat.exe terminates when McTray.exe is running.


Solution

This issue will be resolved in McAfee Agent 4.6 Patch 1 for Windows. McAfee Agent 4.6 Patch 1 for Windows is tentatively expected to be in its Managed Release cycle in November, 2011, which means that selected customers work with Tier III Support to implement the patch and provide feedback regarding any issues found. This article will be updated when the patch reaches Released To World (RTW) status.

Workaround 1
Set the Agent policy to display the Agent icon in ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 4.6.
Log on to the ePO 4.6 console.
Click Menu, Policy, Policy Catalog.
Select McAfee Agent from the Product drop-down list.
Click Edit Settings for the My Default policy entry.
Click the General tab, select Show the McAfee system tray icon (Windows only) and click Save.
Send an agent wakeup call to the computers to receive the policy change.

Workaround 2
Revert to McAfee Agent 4.5.

为了稳定，我们一直没上4.6，还是McAfee Agent 4.5，等4.6稳定了再说，呵呵。
