Company NewsGroup Test: Avira AntiVir takes first place in detection performance, again.Mon, 03 September 2007 Tettnang, 3 September 2007 – Avira has successfully defended its leading position in the AV-Comparatives test, a renowned project designed to test anti-virus software.
In the current test the detection rate of 17 virus scanners of renowned manufacturers was checked with manual search runs (on-demand). Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium version 7.04.00.57 was part of the line up.
The products under test had to successfully remove more than 800,000 intruders, amongst them nearly 600,000 backdoors, Trojans and other malware and over 200,000 Windows viruses, macros and worms. Avira AntiVir once again impressed the testers with a detection rate of 99.45% and won first place in the comparison of single scan engine products.
Avira AntiVir even scored higher results in the test than some providers who have multi-engine-products. TrustPort, for instance, uses four engines including detection pattern files. This can lead to a better detection rate, but has the disadvantage that scanning speed can slow down significantly.
The continued success of the Avira engine is due to the innovative Avira AHeAD technology (Advanced Heuristic Analysis and Detection).
Avira AntiVir was awarded with the certification level “Advanced Plus”. |
