McAfee HIPS 7.0 Beta Team,



We are pleased to announce that an updated build of McAfee HIPS 7.0 has been posted to the beta download server for your testing enjoyment!  This is our “Release Candidate" build.  You can download the files from this link:

This build contains fixes for all issues targeted for the McAfee HIPS 7.0 release.  It should be very close to what we release when McAfee HIPS 7.0 ships in a few weeks time.



Next steps:

-Download the Release Candidate deliverables (see above link)

-Review the Readme (important information within!)

-Re-test/verify any reported issues found in previous McAfee HIPS 7.0 beta releases.  Please inform us immediately if any issue has not been addressed.

-Submit any new defects directly to the development team via the “Submit Beta Feedback” link on the Beta website.

-Visit the McAfee HIPS 7.0 Beta forums for updates and test scenario downloads at http://forums.mcafee.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36

-Send your questions and comments to hips_beta@mcafee.com



Important notes:

Please download and read the readme.html file from the beta download site directly…it is newer than the one in the actual installation package itself, and contains additional critical information about this release candidate.



This release does not support direct upgrading over the previous beta releases of server components (client-side should upgrade fine).  Please remove the previous beta release from your environment before deploying the release candidate.



It is important to note a few things.  We have included on the download page a link to a new ePO 4.0 release (evaluation) build.  Pre-release versions of  ePO 4.0 will no longer function with the McAfee HIPS 7.0 Release Candidate build.  If you are testing McAfee HIPS 7.0 with ePO 4.0 pre-release builds, you *must* re-install your ePO 4.0 test server with the ePO 4.0 release builds before installing the HIPS 7.0 extension.  Again, the ePO 4.0 release build is provided on the McAfee HIPS 7.0 release candidate download page.



This software is not release-quality (it’s very close) and should NOT be deployed in a production environment.

The engineering team feels that this release candidate is a big improvement over our previous beta releases, and we hope that we can verify many of the fixes in the before we get to our general release in a few weeks time.
