Thank you for contacting us.
We would recommend you to do clean reinstallation of Avira to make sure everything is in place. Please refer to the steps below on how to perform a clean reinstallation.
1. Preliminary steps
- Download the latest installation file from the Avira website (download only the product that you purchase):
Avira Internet Security 2013

2. Safe mode of Windows
- Start Microsoft Windows in safe mode (Keep pressing F8 during the boot of your system).
- In the menu select safe mode and confirm this with Enter.
- Confirming your Windows by pressing Enter again.
3. Removing Avira program files
- Start Windows Explorer with Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.
- Then navigate to the directory C:\Program Files\. Here, delete all existing Avira AntiVir directories:
C:\Program Files\Avira\*.*
Hint: Rename the Avira AntiVir directory if you should not be able to delete the above mentioned directories. After a restart in safe mode again, you can remove this directory.
4. Removing Avira application files
- Within Windows Explorer change into the following directory:
For Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
or
For Windows Vista or 7:
C:\ProgramData\
and delete any Avira directories that are located there.

*... \AntiVir... \
By the Windows default settings, "Application Data" is a hidden folder, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and select the option "Show hidden files and folders" or in Windows7: Show hidden files, folders and drives.
5. After delete the folders, please do below steps:
a. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > right click on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
b. Type "netsh winsock reset" (without the quotes) in the Command Prompt window, and then press the Enter key.
(you will get output that asking you to reboot, but do not reboot first, please reboot at step 8)
6. Clean Windows Registry
- Run the downloaded RegistryCleaner program (Refer to Step 1) by clicking on RegCleaner.exe.
- After clicking on Scan for keys, activate the option Select all and click on Delete.
7. Restart your Computer into normal Windows now to complete the uninstallation. You can now reinstall the Avira software. Hi Zhang,

Regarding your issue, kindly perform the following:
A. Restart Windows Action Center Service
1. Open command prompt (Right click and run as administrator)
2. Kindly type and enter the following command
net stop winmgmt
Click Y for Yes
cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem
ren repository repository.old
net start winmgmt
3. Restart your computer
B. Repair your Avira again
1. Go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > Right Click on Avira Internet Securiry and Click "Change"
2. Make sure all of the module is checked/installed and then Click Next and follow the on screen instruction
3. Restart your computer

Thank you for your reply.
Regarding your issue, kindly perform the following:
1. Open Avira Control Center > Press F8 to open configuration panel
2. Activate Expert mode (yellow colour)
3. General > Security > Uncheck all the setting under Product Protection
4. Click Ok or Apply
5. Download the attachment and locate to C:\ProgramData\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\config\ (copy and paste this directory path onto your "windows explorer" address bar in order to locate)
6. Delete the AVWIN.INI and copy paste (replace) with the attachment
7. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall Program
8. Locate Avira > Right click > Change > Follow on screen instructions and make sure all the components are checked
9. Restart your computer
