Cloud support for on-demand antivirus scans is now enabled

we've just uploaded our latest avlode.rdf file to the beta update server. This file is called the local decider and will enable cloud checks for on-demand scans.


New avlode.rdf: 14.0.5.16


The new version adds cloud checks for on-demand scanning (full system scan, context menu scan) beside the quick system scan, which was already using the Avira Protection Cloud (APC). The newly APC supported scan modes will trigger a cloud scan when the file has unusual or suspicious characteristics, limiting the number of executables that need to be checked with APC.

For beta testers, it is recommended to perform a full hard disc scan and check the log for error messages or unusual large amount of cloud scans.

Example of an error:

The file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\MarkAny\ContentSafer\mapwij10.dll' was scanned with the Protection Cloud. SHA256 = 37386BD563F71156761496B431E53A1138B13318BA45CBD9381F4E9543474165

A normal system should have a maximum of 20-30 files that trigger a cloud scan. This version allows a total of 50 APC scans per on-demand scan.

We are interested in any logfiles containing cloud scanning errors.

Please file a bug report as soon as unexpected behavior or a crash of any component occurs.
