The behavior you're seeing—where the SecurityHealthSystray icon disappears when Avira Firewall is enabled—is expected and not a bug. When Avira Antivirus Pro is active with its firewall turned on, it takes over certain system security functions, including firewall monitoring. As a result, Windows Security may hide its tray icon to avoid duplicate notifications.
Here’s what’s happening:
- Avira Firewall replaces Windows Firewall monitoring, so Windows Security doesn’t show its icon.
- Disabling Avira Firewall or using Avira Free Antivirus allows Windows to resume its own firewall monitoring, which brings the tray icon back.
- Windows Defender’s real-time protection is disabled when Avira is active, as expected—this prevents conflicts between two antivirus engines.
The tray icon itself is just a visual indicator. Your system remains protected by Avira, and there’s no impact on actual security.
If you’d like to manually show or hide the Windows Security icon, you can do so via: Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Select which icons appear on the taskbar, then toggle the Windows Security notification icon
