Kaspersky Lab announces the release of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010, designed to protect home and small office users from all types of Cybercrime threats. The new generation is based on the very latest developments in security technologies and offers the most comprehensive protection.
Just a few years ago, the majority of malware programmes were viruses designed to interrupt PC usage and most users installed simple antivirus software. Now the game has changed. The number of Cybercrime threats is exploding at a phenomenal rate - Kaspersky Lab currently detect 17,000 new threats every day - and malware is designed to make money. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 addresses the evolving software security needs of home and small office users, delivering real-time security and enhanced usability, and offers a new class of Internet protection.

Groundbreaking approach to Cybercrime threatsKaspersky Internet Security 2010 represents a shift in how to best protect users. It is expressly designed to provide protection from all forms of Cybercrime, not just viruses, and offers significant performance and usability benefits including:
- Kaspersky Safe Run: Kaspersky Safe Run offers users the chance to test new software by installing and running it in an isolated environment (sandboxing). Users can also visit untrusted Internet sites in the knowledge that malicious software cannot access the information on their PC or change any of their PC settings. Multiple Safe Run sessions can be used at any time.
- Kaspersky Security Network/ Urgent Detection System: The Kaspersky Security Network is a collaborative approach to early identification of new threats. For Kaspersky users who agree to take part, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 will gather information about safe and identified unsafe software to build extensive black and white lists. If Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 identifies software acting suspiciously, the relevant details are sent to Kaspersky Lab for specialist investigation and entry into Kaspersky Lab’s Urgent Detection System for real-time updated protection for all users. It’s an online Internet cloud-based database of new threats to prevent epidemics from breaking out.
- URL Advisor: Kaspersky Lab’s URL Advisor module provides a visible indicator (colour coding) to users if a web site they are about to enter is safe, dangerous or suspicious. If a user still wants to enter the web site they are permitted to do so, but Kaspersky Lab recommends that they use the Safe Run (sandbox) technology to protect their PC, files and personal information.
- New Look Interface: Kaspersky Lab has made its user interface more accessible to the less technical customer. All of the same levels of that technical users have come to appreciate, but the interface now places greater emphasis on non-technical language, separating out mainstream security requirements from more specialist tools and making the user interface simpler to navigate with more obvious setting recommendations.
Additionally, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 has been upgraded with many other core technologies including improved behavioural analyser software that identifies three times more classes of threats. Automatic software options allow users to automatically update their software to take advantage of performance and security enhancements. The secure Virtual Keyboard offers enhanced security for password entry e.g. while banking or shopping online it enables users to enter logins and passwords safely. Moreover, encrypted password security guarantees the optimal balance between convenience and security for online log-ins.
Antivirus only solutions – a choice for technical savvy usersTechnical savvy users may wish to combine Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus technology with third-party solutions.
