刚才在小A官方论坛看到了一位中国网友发帖询问avast 5.0的情况，在此引用下相关答复

because avast! home edition is free,I'd like use it ,and so do many other Chinese
from last year,I heard that the 5.0 version would be released soon ,but one year have passed,it is still no tendency to realse a new version ,and hope Administrator give an official answer.
by the way,will the new version be free to home,and will it contain a firewall?? The official answer is October, 2009.
We will have a beta period before (probably, August and September).
The antivirus part will be free and have a paid version.
The firewall (suite: antivirus + firewall) will be only released as a paid version, i.e., we won't have a free firewall.
avast! 5.0将会在2009年10月份推出，可能在8或9月份会有beta版本放出，杀毒部分会有免费版本和付费版本，而且avast!不会提供免费的防火墙，防火墙部分只会出现在付费版本中
