Trend Micro to Acquire Third Brigade                                       
       Trend Micro has purchased the Third Brigadebusiness to accelerate its dynamic datacenter security strategy and toprovide customers with access to critical security and compliancesoftware and vulnerability response services required to protectphysical, virtual, and cloud servers, and corporate endpoints, fromsophisticated malware and malicious attacks.

Third Brigade Deep Security software unifies security across cloudcomputing, virtual, and traditional datacenter environments. It helpsprevent business disruptions, enable compliance with key regulationsand standards, including PCI, and support operational cost reductionsthat are necessary in the current economic climate.

This acquisition builds on the immense product and people synergy between the two companies:

• Brings to Trend Micro a best-of-breed host intrusion defense systemfor protecting endpoints from zero-day malware that complements ourcontent security solutions powered by Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™.The Smart Protection Network is Trend Micro’s cloud-client securityinfrastructure that blocks threats before they reach customers’networks and endpoints.
• Adds to Trend Micro’s data protection and compliance offerings witha line of defense at the server that can prevent data breaches andbusiness disruptions, and meet compliance requirements
• Complements Trend Micro’s ongoing efforts in datacenter andvirtualization security with its product innovations for virtual andcloud environments
• Recognizes the synergy between the two companies’ sales, marketingand R&D teams that have been working hand-in-hand over the last 18months on the Trend Micro™ Intrusion Defense Firewall plug in for OfficeScan™, the result of an OEM agreement with Third Brigade

Trend Micro plans to grow the Third Brigade business within its owndatacenter security business protecting Third Brigade customers’investments, and ensuring the long-term viability of Third Brigadeproducts. Trend Micro also intends to focus on our common enterprisecustomers.
