至于中文版,今年二季度会有繁体中文,而简体、韩文可能还在规划中,看来又跳票了(上周电话香港,妹妹接的,也说简体版不确定,搞不懂了)。

New R&D Virus Lab in China planned
Hong Kong, 2 February 2010 – Avira, a leading German IT-security specialist, today established its North Asia headquarters in Hong Kong, serving as a base from which to tap into the vast market potential in Greater China and Korea. Avira is a leading supplier of professional Internet security solutions with over 100 million personal and enterprise customers worldwide. Customers here will benefit from its notably reliable products and solutions that feature the highest detection rate and the lowest time impact on system performance in the industry. The company also revealed plans to set up its R&D virus lab in China to complement its global research facilities, and establish a local customer support team this year. These initiatives mark the company’s commitment to a growing market it considers to have among the greatest potential in the world.
“We are very excited about the opening of our North Asia headquarters in Hong Kong, a strategic location with a well established free market economy and legal system, and a pool of great talent. Hong Kong will serve as a premier gateway to tap into the vast opportunities this extremely dynamic region represents for Avira,” said Tjark Auerbach, Founder and CEO, Avira. “The launch today signifies our confidence in the Greater China region, which is a vital part of our global strategy.
“We have increased our worldwide user base from 40 million to over 100 million in the past 20 months. This 150% growth rate represents one new Avira user every second. We intend to further expand our customer base in North Asia capitalizing on a fast-growing security market with a rapidly expanding online population of over 380 million as of September 2009 in Asia Pacific.”
Avira’s office in Hong Kong will manage the company’s overall business operations in China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan, encompassing sales, marketing and technical support services.
Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Simon Galpin, welcomed the launch of Avira's regional headquarters in Hong Kong, saying, "We are very pleased to see the company has decided to set up its regional base for North Asia in Hong Kong. The establishment of Avira's regional headquarters here shows its strong confidence in Hong Kong as the gateway for leading global companies to enter the Mainland China market as well as the Asia Pacific region. Invest Hong Kong looks forward to working closely with Avira to facilitate its expansion in the region through its regional base here."
Committed to the markets in this region, Avira will introduce traditional Chinese version anti-malware software solutions in the second quarter of 2010, including Avira AntiVir Personal, Avira AntiVir Premium and Avira Premium Security Suite. Simplified Chinese and Korean versions are also in the pipeline(规划,酝酿之意), with plans to expand its localized support to more than 10 languages within this year. This, together with other local support services to be available later this year, aims to cater for Avira’s growth and to accommodate the needs of a broad range of discerning customers in the region.
“We pride ourselves in offering a comprehensive suite of products which provide a high level of security without impacting the performance of our customers’ devices,” said David Ip, Vice President, North Asia, Avira. “It is our belief that anti-virus solutions should be taken for granted for today’s Internet life, just like email, instant messaging or Internet browsers that are widely perceived as ‘must-haves’. The secure, premium anti-virus solutions that Avira offers on both a licensed and a free basis will bring greater online freedom for customers in mainland China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan.”
All Avira products are available online at <www.avira.com>. Avira Premium Security Suite, which includes a firewall, parental control feature and backup function, offers all-round protection.
