Hi guys,

here is a-squared Anti-Malware 5.0 Build 8 - probably the last private beta build of a-squared Anti-Malware 5.0. But don't worry, we got more in the line for you to test . You can get the build here:

You may notice the missing red and bold disclaimer. The last builds were pretty stable and we feel comfortable enough to move the beta into public. Please read this posting more careful than the others because some text actually has changed.

What has changed compared to the previous build?

We integrated the scanner UI into the main application window. This was originally planned for version 5.x or 6.0 but due to some delays (flu) our GUI developers had enough time to finish it for 5.0. We are looking forward to your feedback on those changes .

Fixed several security issues involving the automatic white listing inside the on-access module.

Fixed some problems with inter mode communication that prevented the service from talking to the injection driver on 32bit OSes.

The new exclusion logic is in place. If you exclude an application from protection it is not touched in any way by a-squared.

Known problems:

Due to a bug in the 3rd party bug reporting software we use it is possible to crash or deadlock our applications by taking ownership of a synchronization object. We proposed a fix to the vendor to address that problem which got accepted. The public release will include the fix.

Some people reported some random CPU spikes and general sloppiness when performing certain operations. We plan to address this issue during the public beta since we do believe a larger sample size would help to find the underlying cause of the problem.

Due to some new restrictions put on IE8 on Windows 7 with UAC enabled the surf protection doesn't work correctly unless you deactivate UAC.

Some events are not 100% finished. There is still some fine tuning to be done to increase security and decrease false positives.

please note the build is not distributed via online update yet.
Therefore the new binarys are replaced with older files if you use the online update.
