result in severe business impact.

New Resolved Issues
Issue: System failure caused by HIPK.sys on domain controllers. (Reference: 514581)
Resolution: A coding error caused some incorrect string operations, which could lead to a system failure. This
error has been resolved, ensuring that all string operations are correctly executed.
Issue: A process thread failure occurred occasionally for processes running under Windows Compatibility Shim on
Windows XP. (Reference: 430899)
Resolution: The thread creation model has been altered to reduce the likelihood of this occurring.
Issue: FireSvc.exe occasionally fails during policy enforcement. (Reference: 525698)
Resolution: If FireSvc.exe encountered unexpected data types in the registry at policy enforcement, it would
fail. FireSvc.exe now has type-checking to ensure all registry data types are accessed appropriately.
Issue: Network facing applications on Windows 7 fail if their traffic matches a Connection Aware Group that has
“ePolicy Orchestrator Server must be reachable via this connection” enabled. (Reference: 525329)
Resolution: Logic involving the ePO reachability feature was updated to support newer operating systems.
Issue: Custom IPS signatures do not block all access to folders over a UNC path. (Reference: 526225)
Resolution: User information for custom signatures is now updated before accessing a folder over a UNC path,
allowing all accounts to be blocked or allowed accordingly.
Issue: DNS resolution fails on Windows 7 and Windows Vista systems. (Reference: 534279)
Resolution: There was a potential deadlock in FireSvc.exe that could be triggered by DNS traffic. FireSvc.exe has
been restructured to remove the possibility of the deadlock.

Version Reporting
Host IPS 7.0.0 Patch 7 clients report Patch – 7, Hotfix – 7, and Code Version – 7.0.0.1102 in the ePolicy
Orchestrator Properties tab for Host Intrusion Prevention 7.0.0.
With ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6 you can use the Product Protection Summary report to determine which clients
received Patch 7. Patch 7 clients will report product version 7.0.0.x..7.
With ePolicy Orchestrator 4.0 you can write a query and search for the Host IPS Plug-in Version. Patch 7 clients
will report product version 7.0.0.1102.

Known Issues
Issue: The Application Hooking component of Application Blocking is not supported on Windows 7.
Workaround: Refer to online knowledgebase article KB65844  for the most current Windows 7 details.
Issue: User/process-specific exceptions do not allow the Host IPS services (FireSvc.exe and HipSvc.exe) to be
stopped. (Reference: 371417)
Workaround: Create an exception for all users/processes to stop FireSvc.exe and HipSvc.exe, or disable
Signature 1000.
Issue: Loss of network connectivity during Host Intrusion Prevention installation.
Workaround: Refer to online knowledgebase article KB59945 for the most current details.
