Advice on Testing:
Sophos recommends that you do not run beta software on your live network.
However, we would encourage you to install it on a test network that closely
resembles your live network to ensure testing is realistic.
If testing in a Managed environment (ie: Sophos Enterprise Console is used to
manage the version of Sophos Anti-Virus on the PureMessage for Exchange
installation), you must ensure that you use one of the following supported
versions of Endpoint Security and Control/Sophos Anti-Virus:
9.0.3 VDL4.51G:
Fixed package - only available when using SEC 4.0 and your Beta credentials –
for use only with the Beta will be succeeded by 9.0.4 VDL4.51G
9.0.4 VDL4.51G:
Due to be released 9 March – available when using normal credentials with SEC
4.0 – mainline release suitable for non-Beta systems
This release is not currently compatible with Sophos Anti-Virus version 7.X - if
you wish to use this version of PureMessage with SAV
7, please wait until the release of version 7.6.17 VDL4.51E, due on 3rd March
2010, when a new engine release will resolve this compatibility issue.
7.6.17 VDL4.51E:
Due to be released 3 March – available when using normal credentials via SEC
3.x or SEC 4.0 – mainline release suitable for non-Beta systems
The Beta credentials will allow you to access mainline ESC and SAV versions in
addition to the beta only version (9.0.3 VDL4.51E) so it is not necessary to
install a second version of SEC 4.0.
Note that if you will be participating in the ESC 9.5 Beta then you need to
install SEC 4.5 in your test environment. The beta release of PureMessage for
Microsoft Exchange 3.1 should only be used in a test environment.
For detailed installation instructions, please read the documentation available
on the beta download site.
