One thing about alwil software (and the avast team) that everyone here likes too much is that they do not release a new version just to increase the version number. But, they do release a new version when there is a need and when that version is of the quality that is satisfactory to the programmers and those of us who beta test the new versions. Also, to my way of thinking, lower version numbers mean that a quality program is being produced so that many newer versions are not needed so often. At this time, we have been told that avast! 5 should be released sometime during the first quarter of 2009 but there is yet to be a set date for release. More so, there has not yet been any beta testing.
