5.  Updates take place in a variety of ways. The patches that occur without user interface are to keep virus definitions and such up to date. I personally do not want to be advised every time a liveupdate takes place. When you manually run a liveupdate it is however then possible to view more details.



6. I believe this is a known problem but I thought one that was fixed. Kindly advise version of Win 7 and version of NIS or NAV in use?



7. It does not occupy a whole line in my IE8. Are you sure toolbar is not locked and that you cannot move the toolbar to join the line above? Maybe a screen shot will assist.



8.  Are you looking for something more than provided by popup blocker in IE8 and NIS 2010?

14. Personally, I am not in favour because some sc ans may require manual intervention to remove malware. It is important that users are made aware and alerted and take action at the earliest opportunity. If this had been introduced in the past, arguably some people's machines  would be rendered inoperable. I say this because detection and resolution of "rootkits" is becoming increasingly difficult and previously NIS might have deleted a system file on reboot. So having an auto shutdown would be the same as an auto reboot.



15. Could you give an example of when a user might want this. It seems to defeat the object of an AV and firewall product if users want to completely disable the product. On the main screen in NIS 2010 you have access to 11 major items that a user might wish to disable. In addition you can disable smart firewall and anti-virus auto protect. Why is more required?



16. The firewall within NIS 2010 is quite configurable. I am not sure what features you feel are missing.



17. I think examples would be useful for Symantec to review.



18. I take your point but I think the object of the install is to get the user the maximum protection as quickly as possible. Indeed I am always delighted and surprised by the speed of the install procedure. Once the install is complete it is very easy to disable email protection.



19. I am sure Symantec would be interested to know the mistakes.



20.Other users have identified issues but it may be as well to advise which version of the software you are running and which specific issue you still see. I can also advise that the beta for NIS 2011 is under way and some users could check if the problem has been noticed with the beta. So again further details please.

29. QQ is protected even more I believe in 2011 in that downloads are monitored. It is not however a selectable client.

30. You can delete files manually. Are you sure you did not find this function?
