Kaspersky programs include settings to customize them for almost any situation.
If you are having trouble after installing Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 or after installing a new program:
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 uses several different methods to determine if an application is safe, or if it should be restricted. Programs with digital signatures automatically have full access in the Trusted group. Programs without digital signatures have limited access, and with some programs this limited access can cause issues.
For example, CEC_Main.exe is part of many digital camera programs and is a safe file. However, the file is not a signed application, so by default we restrict it from critical system areas. Kaspersky's settings need to be changed so the program is Trusted. To set it to Trusted:
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings.
Click on System Security.
Click on the first Settings... on the right.
Look for CEC_Main.exe (or your program's name) in the lists and click on it.
Click Move to and select Trusted.
Click OK twice to close all the windows.
If you need to exclude a file or folder from being scanned:
Your Kaspersky program can be set to exclude a specific file, folder, or even an entire drive from being scanned.
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings.
Click on Threats and Exclusions.
Click on Trusted zone...
Click on + Add.
Click on select object...
Click on Browse...
Select your file or folder to Exclude.
Click OK 4 times to close all the windows.
If you are having trouble accessing network resources such as printers or local file sharing:
For security, by default Kaspersky restricts certain communication on new networks. For example, if you took your notebook into a coffee shop you wouldn't want others there to be able to browse your files. To set your Local Network to Trusted:
Open Kaspersky.
Click Settings.
Click System Security on the left.
Click Settings on the right of Enable Firewall.
In the Rules window, click the Network tab. You will usually see two connections here, one for the Internet, the other with the brand of network adapter you have (Intel, 3Com, etc). The Internet one should already be set to Public network, and the other set to Local. Right click on Local and select Trusted Network.
If you're having trouble using a Wireless Internet Service Provider:
Kaspersky 2009's Anti-Dialer will block hidden dial attempts. In some cases, this will block your Aircard (or similar cell connections) unless the number dialed is added to the Anti-Dialer Trusted numbers list.
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings.
Click on Online Security.
On the right, click on the Settings button next to Anti-Dialer.
Click on + Add.
Enter your number. If you don't know it, try #777, or please check with your Wireless Internet Service Provider.
Click OK three times to close the windows.
Retry your cell connection.
If you're having trouble with website content not displaying:
Many websites, including video websites, will display an advertisement prior to showing the content you are visiting the site for. To verify we are blocking the advertisement, please disable the Banner Ad Blocker:
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings in the upper right.
Click on Content Filtering on the left.
Uncheck Banner Ad Blocker.
Click OK.
If you the website now displays normally, but you would like to re-enable the Banner Ad Blocker, you can add a rule to allow the specific advertisement while blocking other advertisements:
Open Kaspersky and re-enable Banner Ad Blocker.
Click Reports in the lower right.
In the first drop-down box, select Content Filtering.
Open Date: Today, then Banner Ad Blocker.
Right-click on the entry for the site you want to access and choose Allow. You may need to do this for more than one line for the site to work.
Click Close and retry the site.
If you're having trouble with the Parental Controls allowing or blocking access to sites:
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009's Parental Control feature is off by default. If you do turn it on, the default setting is Child level, and this will restrict many sites. To disable the Parental Controls:
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings in the upper right.
Click on Content Filtering on the left.
Uncheck the Enable Parental Control on the right.
Click OK.
Retry the website you were having trouble with.
For additional Parental Control configuration questions, the built-in Help in your Kaspersky program answers most questions. We recommend using the integration with the Windows user account system to make configuration easier.
If you're having trouble with online content loading slowly, stutteringly, or not at all:
Web Traffic protection may be causing the issue. To turn down the default settings:
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings.
Click on Anti-Malware.
Click on the Settings button next to Enable Web Traffic protection.
Click on the Performance tab.
Move the slider to the left for Light scan.
Click OK twice.
If that does not work, please temporarily disable the Web Traffic protection and retry the site.
If you need to exclude a website from being scanned:
Your Kaspersky program can also be set to exclude a website from being scanned.
Open Kaspersky.
Click on Settings.
Click on Anti-Malware on the left.
Click on Settings... next to Enable Web Traffic protection.
Click + Add new item.
Type in the site address as *.example.com/* in the line and press OK.
Press OK twice to close the other Settings windows.
Close the main Kaspersky window.
Retry the web site.
If you have tried the above steps and are still having trouble:
