Symantec Executives to Participate in Panel Discussions
CUPERTINO, Calif. – Jan. 31, 2007 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC) today announced that John W. Thompson, Symantec's chairman andchief executive officer, will keynote at the RSA® Conference 2007 onTuesday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. PT. Several other Symantec executives willpresent in various conference tracks including Applied Security CaseStudies, Policy & Government, Wireless, Security Solutions,Enterprise Defense, and Authentication. RSA Conference 2007 is beingheld Feb. 5-9, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
In his keynote, Thompson will discuss the need to implement a broad ITrisk management program and the importance of ensuring that customershave confidence in today’s connected world. Tiffany Jones, senior regional manager, Government Relations, willparticipate in the panel “Privacy and Data Security: Is It Time ForFederal Legislation?,” part of the Policy & Government track, onTuesday, Feb. 6, at 4:10 p.m. The panel will analyze the challengesassociated with crafting federal legislation and demonstrate the impactthat legislation will have on maintaining the privacy of information onthe Web.
Paul Miller, managing director, Mobile Security, is scheduled toparticipate in the panel “Smartphone Insecurity,” part of the Wirelesstrack, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 4:10 p.m. The panel will discuss thesecurity of handheld devices in organizations and provide strategies onbecoming more secure.
Francis deSouza, vice president, Information Foundation, is scheduledto present “Locking Down Corporate Data to Prevent Information Risk,”part of the Security Solutions track, on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 10:40a.m. This session will examine the changing threat landscape and theneed for locking down corporate data.
Adam Rak, senior director, Government Relations, will participate inthe panel “Heard on the Hill: The Cyber Security Legislative Climate,”part of the Government Policy & Compliance track, on Thursday, Feb.8, at 8 a.m. The panel will explore the current legislative climate inWashington, how recently passed and proposed regulations will impactdaily businesses, and specific laws and bills related to cyber security.
James Connor, senior manager, Corporate Security, and Sreeni Kancharla,senior manager, Information Security, will present “Convergence ofPhysical Security Systems and IT Infrastructures,” part of theEnterprise Defense track, on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 9:10 a.m. Thissession will analyze the convergence of physical security systems andIT infrastructures.
Ross Fubini, senior director of development, Information Foundationwill participate in the panel “E-mail is Authenticated. Now what?,”part of the Authentication track, on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 10:40 a.m.This panel will explore the evolution of authentication technologiesand how combining authentication and reputation can restore trust ine-mail.
Enrique Salem, group president, Consumer Business Unit, willparticipate in the panel “Congratulations on the Acquisition - What'sNext?,” part of the Business Trends & Impact track, on Friday, Feb.9, at 9 a.m. This panel will discuss the basics of how the M&Aprocess works and how to navigate it successfully without exposing thecompany to unnecessary risk.
